Description[]
Usually depicted as a regal woman, this particular carving shows a barbarian woman. The queen is the most powerful piece on the board, able to move in any direction as far as she wishes.
Kings, as it is known in the common tongue, is a game that has its origins somewhere in the far east of the Thurian continent. Traders along the lotus road were the first to spread the game among the Hyborian kingdoms, where it quickly became popular among the nobility and merchant classes.
It is typically played on a square checkered board that is eight squares wide and eight squares long. Each piece has a specific type of movement associated with it and usually the white pieces are the first to move.
In a variation of the game that has become popular with the nobility, players roll bone dice to see which type of piece they are allowed to move each round. These pieces have obviously been carved by somebody familiar with the Exiled Lands and the events that took part in its creation, though some of the pieces are clearly juvenile fantasy fulfilments.
