The story of this axe is the story of one of the Children of Jhil known as Kryll'ixth'arus. As a hatchling, Kryll'ixth'arus was stolen from his next by a band of raiders from Afghulistan and sold to a menagerie that travelled the silk road.
His wings were clipped to keep him from flying - so he learned to use his lightweight bone structure to perform amazing feats of acrobatics. His claws were filed to prevent him causing injury - so he learned to fight using human weapons gripped in his talons. And finally, when he bit the ear off the owner of the menagerie, his beak was so savagely mutilated so that he could no longer eat unassisted.
The final performance of the menagerie, in the castle of a foolish Brythunian noble, is legendary. Nobody knows what transpired that afternoon, but those who came to the castle in the days afterward speak of a legendary slaughter. Bodies were found hung from chandeliers, corpses were found dangling from rafters and pieces of the menagerie owner were hung from each tower of the castle.
Of Kryll'ixth'arus, there was no sign. But left embedded in the head of the owner of the menagerie, was this axe which became known as The Beak. How it came to the Isle of Siptah and back into the hands of the Children of Jhil is another mystery.
