Taken from the seeds, fruit, roots, and bark of plants, spices are used in cooking, medicine, and the arcane arts. These potent flavors hailed from the east, from Turan, Vendhya, and far away Khitai. The insatiable desire of Stygians to procure spices for their mummification rituals expanded trade along the continent. Flavoring one's food with spice warms the soul for a time.
