Description[]
Where Aquilonia borders upon the Pictish Wilderness, life is brutal, harsh and often short. The Pictish raids upon Aquilonian forts are brutal affairs and settlers who have come west seeking their fortune often lose everything.
Because of the density of the jungle and the difficult terrain, cavalry is almost always out of the question. However, one exception are the messengers who travel along the roads between the forts and the settlements. As a primary target for Pictish raiders, these men and women are among the most hardy along the frontier, and they decorate their saddles with bone ornaments to scare off the superstitious Picts.
Though the style varies from culture to culture, the cavalry saddle shares several elements across the board. It is designed to allow horses the mobility they need to accelerate as fast as possible. Though not capable of being sustained for a long time, the cavalry saddle also allows horses to reach their greatest speed potential.
Notes[]
- Good for speed.
