Poison is a status effect that causes damage over time.

Details[]

Poison is a stacking status effect that deals damage over time. Receiving a new poison effect while already poisoned resets the duration.

Poison deals damage per stack each second for 10 seconds and can stack up to 10 times.

The damage increases non-linearly using the formula (stack#)1.5 (round). However, poisons come in two potencies, stronger poison multiplies the formula by 2 before being rounded, which results in a slightly different sequence than just double that of weak poison:

Certain attribute perks can further influence damage, including Heavy Blows (if the status is inflicted by a heavy attack), Berserker, Blood-mad Berserker, and Backstab (as long as you are behind the enemy when the status ticks).

Poison effectively prevents players from climbing, since any damage taken will cause the player to fall to the ground.

Beware fighting any enemy that uses poison in hand-to-hand combat. Bows are preferable against Spiders.
