The Emperor of Khitai, Li-Yah, rules from the city of Paikang. His Imperial Legion guard him every moment of every day, hard-bitten warriors who rotate between duty in the imperial city and fighting off Hyrkanians on the Great Wall.
This armor, worn only when guarding his imperial majesty or members of his family, is designed to offer maximum defense while being tasteful enough to avoid offending the sensibilities of those not used to the shedding of blood.
These bracers protect the arms from the elbow-joint down to the backs of the hands. They came into popular usage when a single imperial guard held off three assassins using only the bracers to deflect their blows.
