One night, as a young would-be sorcerer and his pup huddled close to their fire, the dog looked to his master with worried eyes - it had been over a week since they had eaten last. So the young boy, in his arrogance, decided he and his hound had what it took to steal food from a nearby pirate camp. Under cover of a storm, the two snuck along the border of the pirate camp to where the food was stored beneath a canvas shelter. The boy reached for an apple that teased him with freshness and red luster, but his hand was seized in a rough and dirty grip just before he could grasp the fruit. ?What do we have here? Look, lads, this whelp and his mangy mutt would steal the food from beneath our noses!' Several pirates stood to attention and closed on the pair. The dog growled in warning as his master was threatened. ?And what's this?' The pirate spat. ?I'll teach this boy and his filthy mongrel a lesson.' With a sneer, the pirate drew his blade and cut down the dog before the boy's eyes. Then, in uncontrollable rage, the young boy broke free of the hand that restrained him and drew the storm's power directly into his body! The resultant surge of energy smote the pirate gang where they stood, but the sudden flow of corruption drained the boy's sanity. Later, the boy wandered back to his cave, muttering incoherently. Now, he had all the food he could ever want but no furry companion. It was then that he crafted the Iron Hound Construct. The construct appeared alive like other constructs, but with its clumsy limbs; it was suited for little more than catching rats. And while the boy has long since perished, the Iron Hound Construct will endure for ages until its iron frame weathers and rots, letting its blood crystal return to the earth.
