The temple dancers of Yezud are famous for their cavorting in front of the idol of their spider god. Naked but for strings of beads in webbed patterns, the dancers are all virgins, set to serve in the temple for five years.
Rumor has it that the temple dancers are less chaste than the priests would have their congregations believe - and that the priests instead use the dancers for their own pleasure.
Whether there is any truth to the rumors, many of the male temple dancers stay on at the temple to become priests, while the girls, once done with their service, are given a generous dowry to help them find a suitor.
