* These thralls were originally Overseer Taskmasters during the event, and changed to priests after the event ended.

During the ritual event, the NPCs normally present in the area were absent.

When the site was approached, a summoner could be found protected by an invincible barrier and several totems would rise out of the ground. Hostile undead enemies would periodically be summoned near the totems and corrupting mist would billow from the totems' mouths.

The undead enemies could be killed for minor loot or experience, but killing them was not necessary and they could also be ignored.

Each totem had to be destroyed. Once all totems were eliminated, the barrier surrounding the summoner would shatter with a bright flash of light and they would become vulnerable and hostile.

Knocking out the summoners would end the ritual, but would not cause the loot chest to appear until they had been placed into a wheel. During the event, the two summoners who could be thralled were T4 taskmasters, but they had a lower crafting speed bonus than all other named taskmasters.

Once the summoner was killed, any remaining undead would also immediately die and a loot chest that resembles a Wooden Box with glowing yellow sparks and wisps coming out would appear nearby. Anyone could loot the chest until it despawned a while after the ritual was stopped, whether they had participated in the event or not.

All the local NPCs would begin returning shortly after the event had ended and a new ritual would begin after about fifteen minutes.

Reward

The loot chest contained a random number of Icon potion of lostsouls Potions of Lost Souls and at least one of the following items unique to the event:

The items will be made available by some (not yet determined) alternate means after the event concluded.[4]
