There was a legend among the Nordheimers that one of the skalds was captured by a Hyperborean Witch-man.
The skald was imprisoned in the top of a Hyperborean keep, where thick icicles hung from the ceiling and the cold northern winds would cut him directly to the bone. He was going to die, so he prayed to Ymir for help.
The Skald had just given up hope, when a flash of lightning outside the tower illuminated his room - and revealed the shape of a bow trapped inside one of the icicles.
Chipping slowly at the icicle, the Skald uncovered the wondrous bow, and shaped himself some arrows of ice from the shards. The next time his captor came to feed him, he shot an ice arrow at the Hyperborean, expecting it to shatter on his chest. Instead, it passed through the armor and directly into the creature's heart.
The Skald escaped, and the bow went with him.
