Dual Axes are a special weapon sub-class of one-handed axes.
There are some dedicated dual axes in the game, including Havoc and Malice, Hunger Blades, Serpentes Sword, War Sickles, and Whirlwind Blades. However, any one-handed axe can become a dual axe by equipping it and any throwing axe at the same time.
Move set[]
Dual axes have a unique move set.
If using throwing axes to form a dual axe, the throwing axe's damage and armor penetration are irrelevant during a combo, as the off-handed attacks inflicted with it will inherit the primary one-handed axe's stats - including status effects. If the throwing axe is thrown, it will only use the throwing axe's stats and ignore the one-handed axe.
Sprint attack[]
Sprinting attacks with the dedicated dual axes will use the same sprinting attacks as daggers and inflict low damage, but add a single bleed. Since none of the dedicated dual axes can stack bleed any other way, this move is not very useful and does less damage than the regular opening heavy attack. If using a one-handed axe and throwing axe, the sprinting attack is the same as regular one-handed axes without a throwing axe.
Light attack[]
All light attacks will only use the main hand and have slow, sweeping attacks that do not inflict any status effects. The light attacks are not very useful in actual combat, but their low sweeps can be effective for dispatching unconscious enemies lying on the ground.
Heavy attack[]
The heavy attack combo starts with a jumping chop with the main hand that inflicts higher damage, then a back swing with the off-hand for a second high-damage strike, followed by a swing with both weapons simultaneously that inflicts medium damage, then the combo will lead into a series of low-damage spinning attacks that can repeat for up to a maximum of twelve additional strikes. The spinning attacks will cause a rapid succession of knockbacks that will put any enemy that lacks knockback resistance into a prolonged stunlock, commonly called "spin-to-win."
The first three heavy attacks are somewhat slow and lack effective hyperarmor, making the user especially vulnerable in the opening moves. Once the spin-to-win begins, it can be extremely difficult (but not impossible) to stop. Any status effects the weapon is capable of inflicting will be added with every strike, allowing one to fully stack debuffs very quickly if they can manage to enter the spin-to-win sequence without interruption.
Special attack[]
When dual wielding a one-handed axe and throwing axe, the special attack will throw the throwing axe.
The special attack for the dedicated dual axes is the standard kick attack.
