Description[]
This black ooze, harvested from the corpse of a demonic entity, steams slightly when exposed to air. Blood is used to increase the potency of the blasphemous rituals of both priests and sorcerers. And this is particularly potent blood. The nature of demons is hotly disputed by scholars. Some suggest that they are simply remnants of elder races that stalked the earth before mankind, while others insist that they are formless creatures from the outer void given form by the incantation of vile sorceries.

When harvesting Demon Blood from a corpse, the gathering tools are dependent on the corpse - Pick, Hatchet, Pickaxe work best for lower level demonic creatures. Testing on dragons inside Unnamed City shows the Skinning Knife harvests significantly more Demon Blood.
(On a side-note, it seems harvesting lower level demonic creatures with a Pick will usually result in more Demon Blood than the Pickaxe or Hatchet. Using a Skinning Knife isn't suggested for these creatures unless you're just harvesting for Hide.)
In the early game (when you need 200 to make your first Map Room), one suggested farming location is Shaleback Hollow.
Since the 2019/03/02 patch, a better source is the elite versions of Undead Hyenas (and presumably also Demonic Shaleback), which yield an order of magnitude more than the non-elite versions.
If you start farming later in the game another good location to get loads of Demon Blood are the three caves The Scraps, Jhil's Roost and Lockstone Cave.
Currently and at least since the beginning of 2020, the best way to farm Demon Blood is by harvesting the Giant Snakes. The one located in the back of the Citadel of the Triumvirate in The Unnamed City yields 100-150 (if not more) from 1 kill using Black Blood Pick + Advanced Tool Upgrade Kit. However, the potency of the poison applied by that snake has drastically increased since the Architects of Argos.
