Food is more than simple sustenance. A good chef cooks food that grant benefits beyond merely sating your hunger.

Unlock the Bonfire Knowledge	The bonfire is the pinnacle of basic cooking resources. It provides a large inventory space and has a small footprint. Unlock Bonfire from the Knowledge menu.	25
Cook Meat in a Bonfire	Place fuel and raw meat in the Bonfire's inventory and activate it by pressing the Play button. Branches, Coal, and Wood are some of the items that can be used as fuel. After the meat has cooked, take it from the Campfire's inventory for yourself.	50
Unlock the Grinder Knowledge	Grinders can be used to provide additional resources by grinding items down. Unlock Grinder from the Knowledge menu.	100
Put Stone into a Grinder	Many items can be put into the grinder to produce other resources. An example of this is Stone, from which you can gain basic salts used to preserve and dry meat and as a way of improving the taste of cooked items.	150
Unlock the Fisher Knowledge	An effective way of getting food is with the use of fish or shellfish traps. Fish does not only provide you with food but can be put into a Fluid Press to provide oil. Unlock Fisher from the Knowledge menu.	200
Access or Place a Fish Trap	Fish traps may only be placed in deep enough water.	250
Catch Fish using Bait in the Fish Trap	Fish traps require bait to work. Insects, grubs, or bees can be used to this purpose and a variety of fish can be caught using several types of bait.	375
Unlock the Dried Preserves Knowledge	The Dryer allows you to dry meat and wood and is useful for making food that lasts. Unlock Dried Preserves from the Knowledge menu.	500
Craft Dried Meat in a Dryer	Dried Meat lasts much longer than normal meat but sate your hunger less. Place bark and meat in the Dryer's inventory and activate it by pressing the Play button. After the meat has dried, take it from the Dryer's inventory for yourself.	625
Unlock the Stove Knowledge	The stove is the most important crafting station for a chef. Here you can craft a variety of proper meals. Unlock Stove from the Knowledge menu.	750
